Abstract—This paper examines transfer-function basedtechniques for performing direction finding on a source ofelectromagnetic energy using a passive vector sensor arraywhose manifold is only nominally known. This problem isstudied in the context of a situation in which the source canbe observed from multiple look angles, as would be the casefor an airborne array. The calibration algorithms examinedin this paper address the case of both polarization andnon-polarization diverse arrays. Computational studies arepresented to assess the efficacy of the calibration algorithms.
