Abstract—Wireless sensors have attracted many researchers' attention because of their playing the very important role of smooth transition from the existing network to the smart grid. WSN (wireless sensor network) for surveillance of overhead transmission line is very promising for the efficiency as well as the economy. Meanwhile, it put some new challenges because of the N-1 principle in the power utility design. Therefore, fault tolerance is of great importance in the monitoring the overhead transmission line. In this paper, we study the fault tolerance for the three types of faults. First, because of the two characteristics which are extracted from the applications, the novel network model is presented and it is used to explain the mechanism of the fault tolerance. Moreover, the quantitative analysis is proposed using the reliability depended on the features. The extensive experiments illustrate the effectiveness of our model and highlight some observations.
