Abstract—In this work a joint clock recovery (CR) andequalization scheme for short burst transmissions is presented. The joint optimization performance may be pursuedby means of both data aided and decision directedsolutions. The novel algorithm is based on an iterativescheme, exploiting a timing error function sampled atsymbol rate. The symbol timing adjustment is implementedby an interpolation filter, built according to the Farrowstructure. Equalization is obtained by baud spaced zeroforcing (ZF) and minimum mean square error (MMSE)linear filtering. Performance is evaluated by simulating aQPSK transceiver and simulations results are compared withthe ideal solutions, for both symbol timing recovery andchannel equalization, under frequency selective multipathfading channel conditions.
