Abstract—As a particular type of multicarrier technique, the filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) has attracted increasing attention as a potential technology for 5G. However, the intrinsic shortcoming of high Peak to Average Power Ration (PAPR) for FBMC/OQAM should be alleviated. In this paper, a new method that combines Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) with Tone Reservation (TR) is proposed for the PAPR reduction in FBMC/OQAM system. The union algorithm used PTS to process FBMC/OQAM signal to reduce PAPR, then the result is further processed by clipping to reduce PAPR. Simulation results show that the proposed method provides better performance of reducing PAPR than other two conventional methods.
