Abstract--Mechanisms and protocol interactions forseamless handover of mobile multicast/broadcast servicesusing unidirectional access networks in heterogeneousMobile IP infrastructures are discussed and proposed. QoSbased applications, such as content delivery, mobile TV,carousel and reliable downloads, requiring interactionchannel, are considered, as well as recent standardizationefforts for converged broadcast and mobile IPinfrastructures. The proposed mechanisms are aimed tosupport handover of interactive mobile services usingunidirectional broadcast media (DVB-H) combined withbidirectional mobile access technologies (UMTS, WLAN,WIMAX) in heterogeneous Mobile IPv6 environments. Inparticular, the focus is:- Enhancement and interactions of link layer tunnellingmechanisms (IETF RFC 3077) for provisioning ofbidirectional connectivity in heterogeneous Mobile IPenvironment;- Access network selection and intelligent handovermechanisms based on IEEE 802.21 for services usingunidirectional networks;- Proactive resource management for interactive servicesusing unidirectional access networks.
