Abstract—Bluetooth (BT) technology through itsconsiderable functionality and flexibility is incorporated inmany modern personal electronic devices, offering reliableand sufficient wireless connectivity. On the other hand, thenew generation of cellular communication systems whileproviding wide coverage and mobility are unable to offer acost effective interconnection of so many personal devices.Web browsing, e-mail, chat, gaming, voice and video arejust a part of the services inquired from the moderncommunication systems. Here web-browsing performance ofBT enabled devices is treated through analytical, numericaland simulation analysis. The foreseen scenarios assume thata personal device (PDA, Laptop) is connected to Internetthrough phone or WLAN, using BT as a connectingtechnology. For the purpose of the examination, a new genericsimulation-based analysis and precise performanceevaluation method is introduced. The method uses theformal language representation of the analyzed protocolspecification, hereafter called behavior model. The behaviormodel code obtained from the IEEE 802.15 standardizationcommittee has been assimilated and upgraded into a novel, comprehensive and standalone Specification andDescription Language (SDL) - based simulator. A WWWtraffic generator was created in accordance with the 3GPPspecifications. The Bluetooth protocol performance wasassessed in network scenarios with different traffic amountsand characteristics. This new concept is flexible andversatile, and can be easily performed for any other kind oftraffic, or any other communication standard. The analysis show that the simulation-based results matchwith the analytical and numerical calculated values, remarkably.
