Abstract—In this paper, we propose a wireless stand-alone,embedded system design that integrates the monitoring ofthree biomedical parameters into a single personal medicaldevice. The three parameters are: blood glucose level, heartrate, and pulse oximetry. The goal of this work is to build acompact and cost-effective device capable of monitoringseveral medical parameters while patients conduct theirnormal daily activities, and store these parameter readingsin an embedded system-based portable device. Acommunication protocol and patient monitoring softwareapplication are developed to store data that can be laterdownloaded to a physician’s workstation for analysis anddiagnosis.
