Peak to Average Power Ratio Reduction for Multicarrier Systems Using Dirty Paper Coding

Abstract—In this paper, we improve the peak to averagepower ratio reduction scheme for multicarrier systemsproposed by Collings and Clarkson by applying dirty papercoding with peak power constraint. We compare the biterror rate performance among conventional orthogonalfrequency division multiplexing, Collings and Clarkson’smethod, and our proposed scheme with bit loading. Fromsimulation we find that when channel coding is considered,Collings and Clarkson’s method is the worst. The proposedmethod performs the best when the number of bits is largeand hence is suitable for high speed transmission.
